Friday nights are fun, but Friday nights at Christmastime are even MORE fun! We take turns babysitting every Friday night with Neil's cousin so we can get a date night now and then. We love our babysitting turn just as much as our date night turn. After the babies were asleep, we let the kids get the Christmas train out. They ended up watching an entire movie inside of these tracks.
Kade did a great job in the Kindergarten devotional at school. He was the first to say his speaking part and he did it flawlessly. He also had to memorize four scripture verses, two poems and five or six songs for the program.
I cherish the days while I can still do my Christmas shopping with these two in toe. It is still possible to distract them from the items in my cart.
One family night, we built our own manger and a nativity set. We used scrap wood which the previous owners left in the basement for us. It turned out pretty cute.
We had Grandma and Grandpa Andersen, Emily, Matt, and Grandma and Grandpa Bennion over for Christmas Eve. After a humble supper and some singing, we put on the Nativity story. Kade and I played the part of the Wise Men. just before our cue to enter, Kade tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Mom! Look!" He smiled at me with a hole in his bottom row of teeth. What a fun Christmas surprise to lose his first tooth!
We sang Christmas carols all into the night and shared stories as a Christmas storm rolled in.
When we woke Christmas morning, we were covered in over a foot of fresh snow! After opening presents, we spent about two hours shoveling ourselves out.
Christmastime is also birthday time for our little Kathryn! I made all her favorite foods and a strawberry vanilla ice cream cake to celebrate.
Now that Kathryn is a big three-year-old, she is way to big to take naps. Right?
