Spring 2012 Happenings

Spring in Utah is so gorgeous. It's fun to watch the snow melt away, the plants turn green, and the blossoms turn into green foliage.  There's a Russian Olive tree on the hill just next to our back yard and it smells like sweet candy. It's heavenly, falling asleep at night with our windows open as the smell of those trees wafts into our room. Most of our time this Spring has been spent working in the yard, planting, weeding, trimming vines, and trees. Even with all the hard work we have been putting in, we have had time to do a few fun things. At the end of April, we attended James' graduation and festivities.

 We returned the following weekend to Provo to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with James and Shawnne. They made us delicious Mexican food, gave us a quiz on the history of the holiday, hit open a pinata, and ended the night watching "Nacho Libre."

 Mothers Day was a completely perfect day. Neil and the kids woke me up singing "Happy Mother's Day" and with breakfast in bed. Neil changed Kade's diapers all day, did all the dishes, and made a full course dinner after Church. After dinner we went on a walk and then took a drive around the pretty neighborhoods on the "Bench."

 Neil goes to Palo Alto, CA every other week to work at Stanford Medical Center. He has been having a blast working for Healthcare Quality Catalyst. He loves his coworkers and thoroughly enjoys each of his projects.

 Another project we finished this month was building our kitchen table. Our awesome friends, Matt and Rebecca taught us about a place in Salt Lake that sells scrap lumber at a discount. Matt walked Neil through building the table and we couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out.

 The best part about our table, is we built it for about $250. Our chairs were $20 at a store we found on ksl.com. Thus, our 9 piece dining set cost us under $500. Not too bad!

We enjoyed having Uncle Matt live with us for three weeks while he was between jobs and housing contracts. He is working at Aspen Grove for the Summer, so we can't wait to have an excuse to go visit him up there soon!

Kade got his first shiner just this weekend. His cousin tossed a five pound weight and it accidentally landed on his face while he was lying on the floor. Oops! Boys will be boys!
