The Aspens were in full Fall colors and the air was refreshingly crisp for our weekend get-away. It actually felt like Fall time! We had fun playing with cousins, going on hikes, fishing in the lake, and walking to the play ground at the lodge. The highlight of our trip was waking up early in the morning to sit on the back porch and listen for elk bugles. Neil and Grace woke before I did, snuggled in a blanket, and listened as two different herds communicated back and forth accross the pond. When I joined them, we decided to follow the sounds. We walked just 5 minutes before we heard rustling in the grass and pounding hooves. Just 50 yards from where we stood, we watched a herd of 20 elk stampede into the woods, lead by a huge bull elk. Grace got a kick out of it, and we had fun telling her cousins about it later that day.

We are so grateful for our parents who share their cabin with us! What great memories it provides.
